My experience using blogs in the english class.

Hi, i will talk about my experience using blogs in the english class on this semester. I think it´s an interesting way to improve my skills in the language; expressing ideas, vocational objetives and personal aspects of life, in connection with the “blogger tool”. It means, is like a personal diary who gives a double function: of knowlededge and to express feelings and ideas.
In relation with my improvements in writing, I believe that I developed them in a good way, as i saw in the proggress wih the corrections and guide of my teacher, this one being a fundamental way of learning in each blog.

In the future I would like that in the blog the teacher puts some guides or material to help us in learn different styles of writing for each new topic. I mean, writing tips for different áreas, like sports, music, religion and spirituality, etc.
In the next term, i would like to write of issues like latinoamerican music cultures; books or political opinions; specially the first one. This because I think in our continent coexist a lot of different sonorities, instruments and styles that a think it would be nice to write those ideas in english.

See you guys on next semester!

A career related website

A very usefull website for me is http://bibliotecaeriksatie.blogspot.cl/ . This one is a library were I can find different sources for my career as interpreter and composer, from sheets and books, untill audios and videos. This web has many sections, wich are “start- blog- sheets- books and texts- audios- videos and concerts- softwares”. And for each one there is a seeker tool who works very nice. I have visited this site very often in the last time, to make works and get knowledge.

I really like this website because it provides me with lots of up to date information in different fields of music, auditions, study programs and other stuff.

Latinoamerican Musicians and creators

Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959) was a Brazilian composer, considered the best figure in XX century at Brazilian art, and has become one of the best-known South American composers of all time.

Villa-lobos was born in Rio de Janeiro. His father Raul was a librarian and amateur musician, who gave him his first musical lessons. In Villa-lobos´s early childhood, Brazil was in a period of social revolution and modernisation, abolishing slavery in 1888 and overthrowing the Empire of Brazil in 1889. All this changes were reflected in nacionalism musical movements, who changed the European style of musical education, for a more traditional folk one. In this way, Villa-lobos received learnings in traditional harmony and counterpoint at the “Music Conservatory” of Rio, but only a few abortive ones, instead he learnt music by observation of the musical events who his father organized, with a free practice of the cello, guitar and clarinet. In 1905 he travelled to the Amazonas to know the native Brazilian musical culture. Then he began studies in the Music Nacional Institute, with a permanent criticism view to the academy, always sharing with popular music bands and cultures.

The legacy of Villalobos is based in the fact that he influenced to many composers to create with an open perspective of music, not a elitist one, instead showing a way of relationship with different styles: folk, popular, jazz, classic. He showed that in all his compositions, a mixture of colours, with a free spirit. All that facts, the free way to live the music mixed with the focus of academic one, is what I love from this man and figure.

Post 5: A Photograph (its story)

A christian brother took this photo on a recent ecumenical service here in Santiago. This photo shows our praise music group, after the service in the “Vicaría de la solidaridad”, located next to the Santiago Cathedral. This picture was taken in May of the present year, and I really appreciate for some good reasons. First the social ones, it means the context and history of that place speacially in the dictatorship period of our history; where some groups made their stand to help the victims of it, a work who was remembered in this service. Second, because I have never been there, and it was in a important moment that I visited it. And third, and not less important, the fact of giving my music work to God and his will.
All this reasons make this photo a blessed memory.
I hope you can visit this precious place in the future because it is full of social, religious and political history, and by the way, has a extraordinary decoration and paintings.

Musical Proyect

Hi, this year I have a musical proyect wich is based on making a workshop in Theory and solfgee inside a Cristian comunitary chorus. I´m planning to start it from August, until the end of the year. Although I will be the teacher and I will make a personal work in that area, this proyect will be collective in the fact that all members from the chorus and community  need to put their times, discipline and focus to make continuos and real progress. I think that is important to make this workshop, first for the reason that it will be helpfull to enforce the adoration in the community, with new knowledges who are essential to read the songs and liturgy from the service himnary, by example; and second because I believe that a strong adoration in this community, can make a great invitation to the people around to be part of it, and that will be the best reward for me. However, I think it´s going to be difficult in some aspects to make this proyect, like the discipline and interest of the people on the church, the different ages and the non previous musical teoric knowledge from many of them. Anyway, I want to make a stand for the community, and serve God in my area.

Post 3: My favorite piece of technology.

Hello, i will talk about my favorite piece of technology: my Line 6 Multi Effects Pedal. My father give it to me when i was 17 years old, and since then I used it to create different sounds and compose electronic parts in my music creations. The last year I used it a lot  with my electric guitar in "Creation Workshop", subject of Composition career; but not much this year beacause I´m in other areas of music for the moment (more acoustic ones). I like it too because for many years had worked very well, and is a tool that in any moment can help me to discover and create new colours and sounds. I really hope that this pedal don´t get corrupt soon , because is really hard and expensive to get a brand new one with this great potencial... it would be very sad. That´s all for now mates, good bye!

Post 2: My expectations for a New Semester.

To put in the paper, this term I am growing up in several subjets. First the formal ones, which are Guitar superior II, History of Music, History of Art, Old Instruments and English III. And 2 electives, Functional Piano II and Composition I. The last 2 I inscribed  for my own vocation as a composer, and I am so exited with the idea of being a great Interpreter and composer in the future.
I will probably take too as an extracurricular study, singing lessons (my other passion)  with a personal teacher who i admire a lot.
I really hope that in this new period of study, i can end all the signatures in a good way, and make a deep development in my vocation as a musician at the service of God.

Post 1: My autobiography

Hi, my name is Lucas Navarrete and i dedicate my life to music, with the favor of God. I was born in VIIIth region of Chile and lived first in Concepción (childhood), then I grew up in Hualpen until I was 16, where I made my first friends and took my first steps in music (my first band); and after that we moved to Chiguayante and I lived there until I was 20 years old.
In this last period I finished school at “Baptist School”, and I also achieved a more serious development in music on my own. But in spite of that, I decided first to study Law in University of Concepción, only for one year. This because I discovered my real vocation thanks to the 2011 “Student Movement” in that place, sharing my music in festivals and faculties.
All that brang me to dedicate myself completely to music, canalized in the study of classical guitar with a personal teacher, who pushed me to move alone to Santiago when I was 20 until today, to study the degree in Mayor University first, and now in the University of Chile, where I also work on composition and singing too.
Well, this has been a brief history of my life.
